XOXOX SHIELD SERIES.
The Shield Series came as a frustrated and powerless feeling when my wife was diagnosed with cancer and having been told the worse case scenario by the doctor.
I wanted to be like those artists who when hardship or hard times comes are able to create, putting their feelings of despair, sadness into their works.
To me the studio is a happy place and it is where I have fun. I could not think of what to do.
The only thing I could do was to hold, hug and kiss my wife more, to protect her, to comfort her, to shield her from harm.
The idea came then, of the shield with the xoxox (kisses and hugs) in my design pattern (which has crossed over into all of my work). An artifact, an amulet if you wish to fence off negative energy.
Also, I would like to think, that each time you see the shield, that it would remind you to hug, kiss your family, your friends.
I am glad to add that my wife is fine.
